Collectors of Alien/Predator merchandise, models and toys will be pleased to know that Sideshow Collectibles have released their “Ceremonial Predator Mask” prop replica for pre-order now on their website. The prop costs $324.99 and ships out second quarter of 2012.

Here’s the back story behind this prop replica:

“The Ceremonial mask is worn by the elder Predators during the “rite of passage” ceremony of the young hunters. It is fashioned from the skin and bone of one of the fiercest creatures indigenous to the Predator’s home world, the QUATZA-RIJ.

As a tradition, young hunters always hunt in groups of three. They are sent out in packs and must hunt and kill one Quatza-Rij as a team in order to be accepted as adult clan members and be recognized as a legitimate hunter. Only after years of hunting do the most skilled and experienced hunters try to kill a Quatza-Rij on their own. If successful, they can then break away from the pack and are allowed to travel off-world to hunt bigger game.

The Ceremonial mask has no laser sight, as it is not a hunting helmet. But it is decorated with three circles on the forehead that represent each of the three hunters. The symbol of unity and teamwork, the Yutja laser sight is modeled after this symbol.” – Sideshow Collectibles

The piece looks incredible and is currently listed at $219.99 for pre-order, with orders being shipped out Janurary 2012. HotToy’s New Samurai Predator Model!

HotToys has just released their latest Predator model for pre-order! The collectible is entitled “Samurai Predator” and it’s very evident as to why. The armor and mask resemble that of ancient Samurai’s:

The Predator figure stands 14 inches tall and comes equipped with a mask, a sword, a dead Alien head accessory, a diorama base featuring defeated Alien body and broken sword piece and many more. SideShow’s New Predator Statue!

SideShow Collectables is launching a new Predator statue based on the 1987 “Classic Predator”. The statue features a bloody Human skull accessory and unmasked portrait for an alternate display. New AvPSpectrum Media Gallery!

We have just finished revising our Alien, Predator media gallery with a new, easier layout and more content. We will continue to add more content daily, so be sure to check it out. As usual, registered members of AvPSpectrum have free access to their own personal albums where users can upload and share their own Alien and Predator artwork.

Viewing our gallery is absolutely free and is open to the publicand is not restricted to members only. So enjoy browsing our collection of Alien & Predator artwork! But we do encourage artists to sign up and upload their own AvP artwork so that others may enjoy it as well!

Winner of Predator Mask Announced!

Congrats to forum member EEV2650 who is the winner of our random active member draw for the Predator Mask Fan Sculpture! EEV2650 will recieve the unique, one of a kind fan creation by Gregchop. The Predator Mask Giveaway was announced at the start of this month (October 2010) and ended on October 31st.

As stated before, the Predator Mask will include the mask and a certificate of authenticity as it is one of a kind. The Mask will also include a custom stand also made by Greg. Predator Study – Community Article

AvP Spectrum’s own forum member “BLAIN” has put many days into a detailed, 50 page Predator study that he has given to AvP Spectrum to help promote it. The article features a detailed analysis of the Predator culture, weaponry and technology. Relating it to common knowlege of our time, BLAIN has compiled a broad hypothesis on the Predator.

We have managed to fit it into only 14 webpages that you can navigate through at the bottom of each article page. If you have a little bit of time to spare, it’s a farily good read. The points mentioned make sense and will get you thinking. Read it HERE!

AvP Spectrum encourages fans to contribute to the Aliens and Predator universe through art and fiction. This is one of many fine examples of the talent found here at AvP Spectrum. You can check out some fan fiction in our forums! Also, members get to share their art in the gallery! So take a look!
